Installing Laminate Floor

Installing laminate floor is really essential if you have any plans to remodel your home or office. Installing a laminate floor is not at all a difficult job. But before you do so, you should do a little research and be sure to follow all the instructions that come along with your new flooring.

Iif you have done your homework well then the installation of laminate floors should be fairly easy for you. Before you begin with installing laminate floor you must check that the floor where the installation will take place is free of any bumps and is smooth. The floor must be leveled so that the laminate floor adheres in a proper manner.

Installation of the floor over a concrete surface will require a vapor barrier which will need to be fitted to stop ant damp rising. You should also leave a small gap between any obstacles including the walls.

There are many do's and don'ts that are essential while the installation of laminate floors. These are:

* The laminate floor should be left to acclimatise to your home, and preferably you should keep the boxes in the room where the installation will take place. Not doing so may well result in the floor swelling and cause buckling of the floor. * There should be gaps between the walls and other barriers. This should be about 5/16''' . It all depends on the recommendations of the dealer of that brand. *The floor will isolate while you walk in case of sponginess of the under-lay. * Before the installation, proper measurement of the room is necessary. You may be required to fix the length of first board and first rows of board in width to avoid having small pieces. * When you install quarter round or base board on laminate worktops, avoid nailing within the laminate. A laminate flooring should be permitted to contract and expand. * Avoid the continuation of the installation process through the doorway which is less than 48 inches in width, and utilize a transition molding for the same. * Avoid hammering on the end of the groove on the board. * Start with the side of the groove and the completion is to be done at the walls. * The joints should be tightened by the use of the tapping block. Avoid over hammering to prevent the damage of the Laminate surface from the point of joints. * The floors should be level before you start the installation process. * The floors should be flat as dips in the floor must be filled in with self leveling compound and must be dried for 72 hours. * Before you install laminates, you must repair any squeaks and soft spots in the floor.

Although it is not too difficult to install laminate flooring .it is advisable to undertake some detailed research and follow the vendor's instructions properly to give an attractive look to your Floor.
